Steve, Sugar provides you energy, but it’s in your best interest to eat ‘good’ sugar – fruit. Processed foods containing sugar and conventional(white) sugar go through an arduious conversion process before they can give you any energy at all and even then some of it gets deposited as fat…There is an article here on the site that goes into more detail. Good luck on the exercise and don’t stop. From the Heart, Maggie

Hi All ~
I started with Maggie on May 6th, 2010. At the time I weighed 250 lbs., was on blood pressure and cholesterol medication, had problems sleeping, problems with pain in my knees and feet and suffered from very low energy level. I ate a lot of carbs, fast food and fried food.
As of today, Oct. 4th, 2010 I am 70 lbs. lighter, am off the blood pressure medication, the pain in my body has disappeared, I have an amazing amount of energy AND my husband has lost 30 lbs. just from eating what I prepare.
I am filled with gratitude for having found my way to Maggie – I’m sure she is literally saving my life. Not only has she helped me to understand and live a healthy lifestyle, she has helped me emotionally as well.
I won’t make this a novel but wanted to share part of my journey to all who visit. I wish you all the best with your journey. ~ Ellen ~

My mother has been involved in fitness her whole life. As obesity is present in her family history, she has proved that this genetic link can definitely be overcome. As a young woman she has used her college education to teach others about the importance of health and fitness. Overseas, she had her own fitness center which was frequented by many doctors, professionals, and women of all backgrounds who learned many techniques of exercise and fitness enabling them to improve their overall lifestyle and health. In the 70s she managed the first all women’s health center called “Elaine Powers figure Salon†and today she continues to change the lives of many. I am very proud of my mother and have witnessed her contributions to the wellbeing of others all my life.

Maggie, What if one doesn’t like the taste of apple cider vinegar???

Jamie, Normally I might say add a teaspoon of Pomagranite juice, but it has a lot of sugar. if you need to perhaps a little raw honey and it may help with the taste. Jamie, sometimes the best things don’t taste that great! Just kidding of course.

Maggie, I have a really bad sweet tooth. What do you suggest I do to help me curb my afternoon/late night cravings? I am also open to hearing from others in the group what their secret weapon is to fight off the demons (sweets) 🙂 Thanx!
